2.30.010 Commission – Established.

Within the department of emergency operations there is established an emergency services commission consisting of seven members to be appointed by the mayor and confirmed by the assembly. Members shall be appointed with due regard for their interest and expertise in the planning, support and delivery of emergency services. Members shall serve without compensation. 2.30.020 Functions and duties.

The commission shall:

A. Evaluate all areawide, nonareawide and service district services provided by the Fairbanks North Star Borough, in the fields of communications, ambulance, rescue and related medical services, fire service, emergency management, disaster planning and response, civil defense and hazardous materials response.

B. Review the facilities, capital equipment, volunteer and financial resources and long-term plans available to the borough for the delivery of emergency services.

C. Hold public meetings throughout the borough to elicit input from citizens concerning desired levels of services and costs for delivery of all emergency services and concerns of equity to remote areas of the borough.

D. Develop criteria to be followed for equitable delivery of services within the borough to reflect findings of investigations, and formulate a long-term plan to guide efficient and economical delivery of quality services in the borough. (Ord. 97-045 § 2, 1997)

2.30.030 Termination.

The commission established in this chapter shall terminate upon completion of a long-term plan and adoption of same by the assembly, unless affirmatively reestablished or continued by the assembly. (Ord. 97-045 § 2, 1997)
