2.04.100 Deputy Mayor.
A. The Deputy Mayor shall be recognized as standing second in line to the Mayor, and in the absence of the Mayor shall act as Mayor Pro Tempore, with the same powers and responsibilities as the Mayor. He shall:
1. Serve as sergeant-at-arms at all Council meetings to preserve order;
2. Arrange for maps, showing City boundaries, City property and other information important to City business, to be made available to the Council and to the public on request;
3. Assist in the road maintenance and snow removal programs and submit any reports necessary in connection with such programs to the state authorities, the school district, the borough, the Council and/or any other persons involved therein;
4. Assist the citizens, on behalf of the Council, in matters pertaining to services such as schools and buses, utilities, sanitation, airports, water, fire protection, pollution control, cemeteries, licensing, highway signs, intersections and lighting, recreational centers, parks, etc., but not limited to these;
5. Follow up on abandoned property, or tax delinquent property, and do whatever is necessary to take and claim such properties for the City in accordance with state statutes;
6. Perform any additional duties as the Council body shall designate from time to time.
B. The Deputy Mayor shall not absent himself from the City nor from his duties for more than 15 days without notifying the Mayor and the Council. (Ord. 74-A-2 § 2.4(2), 1975; Ord. 97-06, 1997)
