2.04.170 Responsibilities.
Each candidate for office should realize that he will be required to devote considerable time to his duties as Councilmember and that he must give more to his duties than just a passive vote at the regular meetings. He is one-seventh of the Council and should intend to devote his energies to one-seventh of the responsibilities of the Council body. If he cannot do this he should decline the nomination. After taking office if he discovers that due to personal reasons, work schedule, lack of interest or ability, or health matters, he is not doing a good job, he should resign. He should not give up his seat, however, because of political pressures, or conflict of opinions with other Councilmembers. (Ord. 74-A-2 § 2.4(9), 1975)
