Article I. General Provisions

2.44.010 Code of ethics.

Employment by the City is a public trust; therefore, all public officials of the City, elected or appointed, shall perform their responsibilities according to the following:

No City official shall benefit materially in any way as a result of decisions made as a public official. Should an official be called upon to rule or vote on an issue which involves personal material gain or loss, the official shall declare this to the Mayor as a conflict of interest and refrain from voting or deciding on the matter. Once a decision is made by the Council or Mayor, the official may discharge his or her duty in order to implement the decision without violating this section. (Ord. 85-02 § 4, 1985; Ord. 96-04, 1996)
