MISCELLANEOUS TRAFFIC REGULATIONS

10.08.010 Operation of vehicles near fire, fire department apparatus, etc.

A.    No person shall drive any vehicle over any fire hose, except upon specific orders from the fire department.

B.    No person shall park any vehicle or otherwise cause any obstruction to be placed within twenty feet of the entrance to any fire station or other place where fire apparatus is stored, or within twenty feet of any fire hydrant or cistern, unless otherwise posted.

C.    No unauthorized person with any vehicle shall follow within six hundred feet of any fire apparatus belonging to the fire department, nor park any vehicle within three hundred feet of a fire. (Prior code § 10-9)

10.08.020 Certain truck deliveries prohibited without special permission.

A.    No person shall make or cause to be made any delivery or pickup from any residence or upon any residential street located north of Pioneer Drive, without special permission to do so, unless the vehicle used is a single vehicle with a bed length not greater than twenty feet. Deliveries by semitrailer trucks are specifically prohibited in this area. The use of moving vans is permitted, however, for the pickup or delivery of household goods performed as part of the change of residence of an occupier of the household.

B.    Permission to make a delivery in this area with a larger truck or semitrailer may be granted by the police chief upon application. In acting upon an application, the police chief shall consider the public safety and convenience, as well as the feasibility of making the delivery in a smaller vehicle. (Prior code § 15-6)

10.08.030 Twenty miles per hour speed limit on residential streets.

A person may not drive a vehicle at a speed greater than is reasonable and prudent under the conditions and having regard to the actual and potential hazards existing at the time. Except when a lower speed is required for such compliance, a person may not drive a motor vehicle in excess of twenty miles per hour on any residential street within the city. A residential street is one within or contiguous to any residential zoned “R” area within the city. (Prior code § 15-7)

10.08.040 Prohibition of vehicles in certain areas at certain times.

A.    All motor vehicles shall be prohibited from the Mineral Creek Park Strip, the Black Gold Park Strip and the Mineral Creek Cross Country Ski Trails designated in Section 12.08.010 as Area 1 on Exhibit A.

B.    This prohibition shall not apply to motor vehicles required to be on the park strips or ski trails for the construction or maintenance of those areas or facilities located thereon. (Ord. 93-12 § 1: prior code § 15-12)
