There is established the department of port and harbor. [Ord. 96-1 § 4.]
2.18.020 Functions.
The functions of the department of port and harbor shall include those set forth in BMC Title 14. [Ord. 96-1 § 4.]
2.18.030 Director.
A. The department of port and harbor shall be headed by the port director who shall be appointed by the city manager for an indefinite term and shall be removable by the city manager, but is entitled to all rights and privileges as other employees under the city’s personnel rules and procedures. The position of port director is a professional and confidential position wholly exempt from the classified services.
B. The port director will have supervision of and responsibility for the operation of all port and harbor facilities including but not limited to the small boat harbor, seawall, cargo dock and petroleum dock in accordance with the operating rules and regulations enacted by the city council and the administrative direction of the city manager.
