2.120.010 Establishment.

There is hereby established a planning and zoning commission for the town of Sahuarita to consist of seven members, each of whom shall be a resident of the town. [Ord. 2006-06 § 11; prior code § 3-5-1. Formerly 2.110.010.]

2.120.020 Appointment – Vacancies – Terms.

Appointments to the planning and zoning commission, and the filling of vacancies on the planning and zoning commission, shall be as provided in Chapter 2.115 STC. [Ord. 2006-06 § 11; Ord. 2005-03 § 1; prior code § 3-5-2. Formerly 2.110.020.]

2.120.030 Officers, public meetings and minutes.

A. The planning and zoning commission shall immediately upon formation and every two years thereafter elect a chairperson with the power to administer oaths and take evidence.

B. The meetings of the planning and zoning commission shall be subject to the public meeting laws and minutes shall be taken showing the vote of each member and records of its examinations and other official actions, and shall be filed in the office of the commission as a public record. 2.120.040 Duties of planning and zoning commission.

The planning and zoning commission shall serve to provide recommendations to the town council on land planning matters including but not limited to:

A. Comprehensive plans;

B. Town zoning code;

C. Area and neighborhood plans;

D. Specific plans;

E. Subdivision specifications and regulations;

F. All requests for rezoning of property;

2.120.050 Compensation.

The members of the planning and zoning commission shall serve without compensation; however, members may be reimbursed for actual expenses incurred in conjunction with their duties, upon authorization or ratification by the commission and approval of such expenditures by the town council.
