AUTHORITY TO ENFORCE, REMOVE AND IMPOUND

Any peace officer or Pima County animal care officer or other designated town enforcement agent is hereby authorized and empowered to enforce the provisions of this chapter and to issue citations for violations thereof. Pima County animal care shall have primary responsibility for the enforcement of this chapter. [Ord. 2005-09 § 1; prior code § 6-7-1.]

6.35.020 Authority to impound.

A. If a peace officer or a Pima County animal care officer or other designated town enforcement agent has issued a citation for a violation of this chapter or of the Arizona Revised Statutes, and reasonably believes that the violation will continue, the officer is authorized and empowered to remove and impound the animal.

B. The owner of any animal removed and impounded under the provisions of this chapter shall be liable for any impoundment, boarding or veterinary fees incurred in connection therewith.

C. Prior to redemption of any animal impounded pursuant to this section, the town enforcement agent is authorized to implant an identification microchip in said animal. The cost of the microchip and its implantation shall be paid by the owner of said animal. [Ord. 2005-09 § 1; prior code § 6-7-2.]
