CITY TREASURER

2.06.010 Appointed city treasurer position created.

A.    The position of an appointed city treasurer is created pursuant to California Government Code Sections 36501 and 36510.

B.    The city council vests the city administrator with the power to appoint or dismiss the city treasurer, pursuant to California Government Code Section 36510. The city administrator is also delegated the responsibility of conducting a performance review and setting the salary for the city treasurer. Both the appointment of, and salary for, the city treasurer are subject to ratification by the city council.

C.    During a vacancy of the city treasurer position, the city administrator may make an interim appointment of any duly qualified person to perform the duties of the city treasurer.

D.    In case of a vacancy of the city treasurer position, the mayor or the city administrator may execute instruments on behalf of the city treasurer.

E.    The city treasurer position may be combined with the city clerk position by resolution of the city council. (Ord. 499 §3(part), 2020)

2.06.020 Powers and duties of the city treasurer.

The city treasurer shall have those duties and powers described in the California Government Code. (Ord. 499< §3(part), 2020)

2.06.030 Bonds of the city treasurer.

The city treasurer shall execute a bond or other security in accordance with the requirements of the California Government Code and any other state law applying or relating to bonds of public officers. (Ord. 499 §3(part), 2020)
