2.71.010 Limitation on campaign contributions.
The text of Chapter 5 of Title 9 of the Government Code known as the California Political Reform Act of 1996 as it pertains to limitations on contributions for municipal elections is hereby adopted by reference and shall take effect on January 1, 1997. (Ord. 670-U § 1, 1996).
2.71.020 Definitions.
Except as otherwise provided in this chapter, the words and phrases used in this chapter shall be interpreted as defined in Title 9, Chapters 2 and 5, of the California Government Code. (Ord. 670-U § 1, 1996).
2.71.030 Voluntary expenditure limits.
Consistent with Sections 85400 and 85401 of the Government Code, a voluntary expenditure ceiling for candidates and controlled committees of such candidates for elective office is established not to exceed $1.00 per resident for each election in the jurisdiction in which the candidate is seeking elective office.
If a candidate voluntarily accepts the expenditure ceiling established by this chapter, then such candidate or candidate’s controlled committee may accept contributions in excess of the $100.00 limitation and may accept contributions of $250.00 consistent with Section 85402. (Ord. 670-U § 1, 1996).
2.71.040 Procedures.
Any procedures, rules, or regulations not set forth at Chapter 5 of Title 9 of the Government Code for the implementation of this chapter may be adopted by resolution of the city council by a majority vote. Any procedure, rules or regulations adopted to implement this chapter shall not be in conflict with any provision of the California Political Reform Act of 1996. (Ord. 670-U § 1, 1996).
