SPEED LIMITS

8.25.010 Established.
(1) Pursuant to the authority granted to it by state law and, particularly, California Vehicle Code Sections 21, 235, 240, 515, 22350, 22351, 22352 and 22357, the city of Biggs determines that all highways, roadways and streets within the city of Biggs are highways, roadways and streets in business and/or residential districts as defined in the Vehicle Code. Therefore, the speed limit for all highways, roadways and streets within the city limits of the city of Biggs shall be and is 25 miles per hour.
(2) To the extent that any highway, roadway or street is not in either a business or commercial district, the city of Biggs hereby determines the speed limit for each such highway, roadway or street to be 25 miles per hour.
(3) All highways, roadways and streets within the city of Biggs may be posted with speed limits signs consistent with this section and with the Vehicle Code.
(4) Any violation of the speed limits imposed by this section and/or the Vehicle Code will constitute an infraction and shall be punishable as such. [Ord. 337 §§ 2 – 5, 2002; Ord. 44 § 13, 1918]
