2.50.010 Findings and declaration of purpose.

Information has been presented to the city council and the city council finds there is a need for the planning, development, replanning, reconstruction and rehabilitation of certain areas within the city and the provision of private and public structures and spaces, all as may be appropriate or necessary in the interest of the general welfare. The city council hereby declares there is a need for a redevelopment agency to function in the city under and pursuant to the community redevelopment law. (California Health and Safety Code Section 33000 et seq.) [Ord. 92-9 § 2; Code 1990 § 10.1.01.]

2.50.020 Redevelopment agency created – City council appointed as redevelopment agency.

There is hereby created a redevelopment agency for the city of Calimesa and the city council declares itself to be the redevelopment agency. By declaring itself to be the redevelopment agency (rather than appointing other persons to serve in that capacity), the city council, which is elected by the voters, will remain accountable to the voters for its actions regarding redevelopment. By declaring itself to be the redevelopment agency, the council will also eliminate any duplication of effort in matters related to redevelopment. The action of the council declaring itself to be the redevelopment agency will serve the public interest and promote public safety in an effective manner. [Ord. 92-9 § 2; Code 1990 § 10.1.02.]
