Chapter 1.8
CAMPAIGN EXPENDITURE LIMITS

Sections:

1.8.01    Voluntary expenditure limit authority.

1.8.02    Setting voluntary expenditure limit.

1.8.01 Voluntary expenditure limit authority.

The provisions of this section are enacted pursuant to the provisions of Government Code Section 85400 (c), effective January 1, 1997, allowing a municipality to establish voluntary expenditure limits for candidates and controlled committees of such candidates for elective City office for each election in the City. (Ord. 96-27, amended February 6, 1997. The sections of the ordinance codified in this chapter have been changed to 1.8 to reflect a duplication of numbering and conflict with Ordinance 97-4; also, Ordinance 96-28 is identical to the ordinance codified in this chapter but is an urgency ordinance created because of Prop. 208)

1.8.02 Setting voluntary expenditure limit.

The expenditure limit is established at $1.00 per resident of the City of Clovis. All candidates and controlled committees of such candidates that seek an elective office in the City of Clovis must file either an acceptance or rejection of the voluntary expenditure limit in writing with the City Clerk. The acceptance or rejection shall be submitted in the time and manner provided by Section 85401 (a) of the Government Code. (Ord. 96-27, added, February 6, 1997. The sections of the ordinance codified in this chapter were changed to 1.8 because of a numbering error giving Ordinance 97-2 the same section number as Ordinance 96-27; also Ordinance 96-28 (urgency) is identical to Ordinance 96-27 due to Prop 208 and March 4, 1997 election)
