WALNUT BLACKLINE DISEASE CONTROL

31-1 Purpose.

(a)  The purpose of this chapter is to control the spread of Walnut Blackline disease to walnut orchards in the county of Colusa, and to promote the public health, safety and welfare of the residents of the county.

(b)  The board of supervisors finds that Walnut Blackline disease is a specific, serious and infectious disease of English walnut trees of Northern California.

(c)  The disease is attacking and destroying English walnut trees in many parts of Northern California, but is presently unknown to exist in Colusa County.

(d)  There is considerable scientific evidence which indicates that this disease is spread by pollen. (Ord. No. 408, (part).)

31-2 Artificial application of pollen prohibited.

It is unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to apply, or cause to be applied, to any English walnut tree or orchard within the county of Colusa, any walnut pollen which originates from outside of the county of Colusa. (Ord. No. 408, (part).)

31-3 Penalty for violation.

Violation of the provisions of this chapter shall be punished by a fine not exceeding five hundred dollars, or imprisonment for a term not exceeding six months, or by both such fine and imprisonment. (Ord. No. 408, (part).)
