PEDESTRIAN REGULATIONS

56.20.010 Establishing marked crosswalks.

The City Engineer shall establish, designate and maintain crosswalks at intersections and other places by appropriate devices, marks or lines upon the surface of the roadway as follows:

A. Crosswalks shall be established and maintained at all intersections within business districts and at intersections outside such districts, and at other places within or outside said districts where the City Engineer determines that there is particular hazard to pedestrians crossing the roadway.

B. The City Engineer may place signs at or adjacent to an intersection directing that pedestrians shall not use any crosswalk so indicated. When appropriate, barricades may also be erected to prevent pedestrians from entering such a crosswalk.

56.20.020 Pedestrians must use crosswalks.

No pedestrian shall cross a roadway other than by a crosswalk in any business district.
