GAMBLING PLACES

9.28.010 Conducting of gambling place.

It is unlawful for any person within this city to rent, open up, carry on or conduct, or have charge of or control of any room, apartment or place in this city wherein or whereat any game played with cards, dice or any other instrument, thing, device or machine is played, dealt, conducted or carried on, or permitted to be played or dealt for money, checks, chips, credit or other representative of value or thing of value. 9.28.020 Cards or dice in stores, etc.—Unlawful.

It is unlawful for any person within this city to play or engage in any game of cards or dice in any store, hotel, billiard room, pool room, cigar store, soft drink establishment, or in any other place or annex of any of said places within this city. (Prior code § 5317)

9.28.030 Cards or dice in stores, etc.—Permitting.

It is unlawful for any proprietor, keeper, clerk or other person having charge of any store, hotel, billiard room, pool room, cigar stand, soft drink establishment, or any other public place, or annex of any of said places, to permit any person to play or engage in any game of cards or dice in any such store, hotel, billiard room, pool room, cigar stand, soft drink establishment, or any other public place or annex of any of said places. 9.28.040 Gambling implements in barred room.

It is unlawful for any person within this city to exhibit or expose to view in any barred or barricaded house or room in any place built or protected in any manner to make it difficult of access or ingress to police officers, where any cards, dice, dominoes, fan-tan table or layout or any part of such layout, or any gambling implements whatsoever are exhibited or exposed to view when three or more persons are present. (Prior code § 5319)

9.28.050 Visiting barred gambling room.

It is unlawful for any person to visit or resort to any such barred or barricaded house or room, or other place built or protected in a manner to make it difficult of access or ingress to police officers, where any cards, dice, dominoes, fan-tan table or layout or any part of such layout, or any gambling implements whatsoever are exhibited or exposed to view when three or more persons are present.
