13.04.010 Damaging water or fire equipment.

It is unlawful for any person to use, remove, molest, injure or drive over any hose or machinery, device or property of the city used or kept for the maintenance, repair or supply of the municipal waterworks or the fire fighting apparatus of the city, without express permission from the superintendent thereof. (Prior code § 4032)

13.04.020 Tampering with valves.

It is unlawful for any person to molest or turn any cutoff, gate or corporation cock connected with the municipal waterworks where the same is located in any alley or street in this city. (Prior code § 4035)

13.04.030 Well digging prohibited.

A.    It is unlawful for any person, corporation, association or entities of any kind to dig or drill a water well or return well in the city.

B.    The penalty for violations of this section shall be as prescribed in Section 1.16.010. (Ord. 505 § 2 (part), 1973: Ord. 488 §§ 1, 2, 1972)

13.04.040 Rates and charges.

Rates and charges for furnishing water, including the deposits required for commencing new accounts and connection charges, in the city and adjacent territory, shall be established by resolution of the city council. The rates and charges so established by such resolution may thereafter be changed or modified by a resolution of the city council. (Ord. 524 § 1, 1974)

13.04.050 Low-income senior rate discount.

There is established a water rate discount for senior citizens and residents of the city. This discount will apply to qualified low-income seniors ages sixty-five or older meeting low-income guidelines established in the Tulare County Regional Housing Needs Assessment Plan and as that plan is subsequently amended. The discount will be five percent of the current water charges. This section shall remain in effect, unless, by ordinance, the city council repeals or amends this section. (Ord. 2009-04 § 2, 2009)
