7.28.010 Definitions.
For the purpose of this chapter, unless otherwise apparent from the context, certain words and phrases used in this chapter are defined as follows:
A. “Public meeting” is defined as any meeting of the legislative body or an advisory commission of the city within the scope and definitions of the Ralph M. Brown Act as set forth in Chapter 9, Division 2 of Title 5 of the California Government Code.
B. “Public places” is defined as those portions of City Hall and any other building used by the city for the conduct of city government which are open to and do business with the general public.
C. “Smoke” or “smoking” as defined herein means and includes the carrying of a lighted pipe, lighted cigar, or lighted cigarette of any kind, or the lighting of a pipe, cigar, or cigarette of any kind.
D. “Smoking break” is defined herein as suspension of all official business for a period of not less than ten minutes. (Ord. 4-77 §1(part), 1977).
7.28.020 Prohibition.
Smoking shall be prohibited at all public meetings of the city government of the city and in all public places used by the city government of the city for the conduct of official business. (Ord. 4-77 §1(part), 1977).
7.28.030 Smoking break.
A ten-minute smoking break shall be called each hour or not to exceed ninety minutes. It shall be suspended if all persons agree to this. (Ord. 4-77 §1(part), 1977).
7.28.040 Posting of signs.
Signs which designate no smoking areas established by this chapter shall be clearly, sufficiently, and conspicuously posted in every room, building or space so covered by this chapter. The manner of such posting, including the wording, size, color, design and place of posting shall be sufficient to communicate the intent of this chapter to all persons occupying any such room, building or space.
