10.24.010 Stop signs – Certain streets.

Whenever any ordinance or resolution of this City designates and describes any street or portion thereof as a through street, or any intersection at which vehicles are required to stop at one or more entrances thereto, the traffic engineer shall erect and maintain stop signs as follows:

A.    On each and every street where a stop is required;

B.    At or near the entrance to the highway or intersection where a stop is required. Every such sign shall conform to the requirements of the CVC. (Ord. 1005 § 2, 2003. Code 1964 § 12.28.010.)

10.24.020 Obedience to signs.

When stop signs are erected, as provided in this chapter, at the entrance to any intersection, every driver of a vehicle shall stop at every such sign before entering the intersection, except when directed to proceed by a police officer or traffic-control signal. (Ord. 1005 § 2, 2003. Code 1964 § 12.28.020.)

10.24.030 Emerging from alley or private driveway.

The driver of a vehicle emerging from an alley, driveway or building within or immediately to the rear of a business district shall stop such vehicle immediately prior to driving onto a sidewalk or into the sidewalk area extending across any alleyway. (Ord. 1005 § 2, 2003. Code 1964 § 12.28.030.)
