7.12.010 Definitions.

A. “Animal” means any horse, mule, sheep, goat, cow, hog, poultry, fowl, rabbits, all wild or exotic animals, whether domesticated or not, and all other animals except dogs and cats.

B. “One residence” means the place of abode of a single unit, such as an individual or a family or group sharing the same living quarters. (Ord. 329 § 3, 1973; Ord. 267 § 11, 1961).

7.12.020 Compliance with chapter.

It is unlawful to keep or maintain any animal or bees within the city limits except as provided in this chapter. (Ord. 329 § 3, 1973; Ord. 267 § 11, 1961).

7.12.030 Rabbits, hamsters and fowl – Enclosure.

It is lawful to keep or maintain any rabbits, hamsters, chickens, pigeons, geese, ducks, or other fowl or poultry, within any portions of the city; provided, they are kept and retained within an enclosure sufficient or adequate to prevent them from trespassing upon private property or roaming at large upon public property. (Ord. 329 § 3, 1973; Ord. 267 § 11, 1961).

7.12.040 Rabbits, hamsters and fowl – Distance from dwelling.

Any such rabbits, hamsters, chickens, pigeons, geese, ducks or other fowl or poultry must be kept or maintained not less than 20 feet distant from any building or structure used for human dwelling purposes. (Ord. 329 § 3, 1973; Ord. 267 § 11, 1961).

7.12.050 Rabbits, hamsters and fowl – Maintenance of enclosure.

Any person keeping or maintaining any such animals, fowl or poultry as are authorized by this chapter shall at all times keep and maintain the enclosures in which such animals, fowl or poultry are retained in such condition that the same will not constitute a danger or hazard to the public health, safety or welfare. 7.12.060 Rabbits, hamsters and fowl – Maintenance of animals.

It is unlawful to keep or maintain any animals, fowl or poultry as are authorized by this chapter in such a manner or condition or in such number as to constitute a public menace or a public nuisance. (Ord. 329 § 3, 1973; Ord. 267 § 11, 1961).

7.12.070 Dogs – Number allowed.

It is unlawful to keep more than three dogs over four months of age at any one residence. (Ord. 329 § 3, 1973; Ord. 267 § 11, 1961).

It is unlawful to keep more than three cats over four months of age at any one residence. (Ord. 329 § 3, 1973; Ord. 267 § 11, 1961).
