8.04.010 Foodhandler’s card--Requirements.

It is unlawful for any person to engage in the handling, serving, preparation or storage of food or drink in any bakery, butcher shop, restaurant, hotel, fountain, tavern or other eating or drinking place in the city or in the sanitizing of utensils in any of the foregoing establishments, for a period of time longer than thirty working days, or for any food establishment operator to employ or permit any person to engage in such activities therein for longer than such period of time unless such person holds a foodhandler’s card issued by the county health department.  All food-handlers’ cards shall expire one year from the date of issuance.  No person shall be issued a foodhandler’s card until he or she has completed satisfactorily a course of instruction which shall be provided free by the county health department.  A fee of one dollar shall be charged for each card issued.  As a prerequisite to the issuance of a foodhandler’s card, the county health department may impose any requirement, physical or other tests or examinations, which may be necessary for the protection of the public health.  The county health department shall not give any treatment required for any condition revealed by such examination or such test or tests, and the county health department shall not be responsible in any manner for the cost of such treatments.  (Ord. 55 §1, 1951).

8.04.020 Violation--Penalty.

Any person violating any provision of this chapter shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and shall be fined not more than fifty dollars, or imprisoned in the County Jail not more than fifty days, or by both such fine and imprisonment.  (Ord. 55 §2, 1951).
