ONE-WAY STREETS AND ALLEYS**

10.04.010 Portion of Madera Avenue.

A. The following streets within the city are designated as one-way highways:

1. That portion of Madera Avenue lying along each side of the park area in the middle of and within Madera Avenue between "A" and "B" Streets;

2. That portion of Madera Avenue lying along each side of the park area in the middle of and within Madera Avenue between "B" and "C" Streets.

B. All vehicles, whether self-propelled, horse-drawn or operated by bodily exertion or force, shall be driven and operated to the right of the park area when within the portions of Madera Avenue.

C. The chief of police is authorized and directed to install and place traffic-control signs, in accordance with law, at the entrance to the portions of Madera Avenue.

D. It is unlawful for the operator of any vehicle to operate or drive the vehicle in a direction on the portions of such streets other than as provided in this section; and any such person violating any of the provisions of this chapter shall be fined not more than fifty dollars, or imprisoned in the City Jail for not more than fifty days, or by both such fine and imprisonment.  (Ord. 16 §§1--4, 1946).

10.04.020 Certain alleys.

A. The alley situate in the city between Madera Avenue and 4th Street shall henceforth be a one-way alley carrying traffic in a general southerly direction only.

B. The alley situate in the city between Madera Avenue and 6th Street beginning at California Avenue and ending at Stanislaus Avenue shall be a one-way alley carrying traffic in a general northerly direction only.

C. The alley situate in the city between Madera Avenue and 6th Street beginning at OGO Apartments Drive and ending at Stanislaus Avenue shall be a one-way alley carrying traffic in a general southerly direction only.

D. The city shall install adequate one-way direction signs or other markings in the general area of the alleys to give notice to the public of the requirements of this section.

E. It is unlawful for any person to operate a vehicle on or along the alleys in a direction contrary to the one-way provisions of this section.  (Ord. 82-06 (part), 1982:  prior code §§9-901--9-904).
