2.07.010 Classification and duties.

The council may hire a city attorney as a full-time city employee, as a part-time city employee, or as a legal services contract provider. If hired as an employee, the city attorney shall be classified as a management employee.

The city attorney shall have the duties and privileges prescribed by the charter in addition to those prescribed in the city’s classification plan and in addition to those that may be provided by agreement between the city and the city attorney. 2.07.020 Appointment – Conditions of employment.

The city attorney shall be appointed by the council. The city attorney shall be chosen by the council without regard to political consideration and with reference solely to his or her qualifications for the office.

Other conditions of employment may be spelled out in an employment agreement between the city attorney and the city. [Ord. 00-22 § 2, 2000; Ord. 1516 N.S. § 1, 1986].
