16.52.010 Prima facie speed limit.

It is hereby determined upon the basis of engineering and traffic surveys that the speed limits set forth in this chapter are determined to be reasonable and safe, and most appropriate to facilitate the orderly movement of vehicular traffic in the city. It is hereby declared that the prima facie speed limit as provided in California Vehicle Code Section 22352 shall be as hereinafter set forth on those streets or parts of streets designated in PGMC 16.52.020 when signs are erected giving notice thereof. 16.52.020 Specific speed limits.

It is hereby determined upon the basis of engineering and traffic surveys that the speed limits set forth in this section are determined to be reasonable and safe and shall apply to the safe operation of vehicles at the locations specified below.

(a) Thirty Miles per Hour. Vehicles operated upon the locations listed below shall not exceed 30 miles per hour:

(1) David Avenue. That portion of David Avenue from the easterly city limits westerly a distance of 0.50 mile more or less to Congress Avenue.

(2) Forest Avenue. That portion of Forest Avenue from State Highway Route 68 (Sunset Drive) northerly a distance of 0.23 mile more or less to Hillcrest Avenue.

(3) Jewell Avenue. That portion of Jewell Avenue from Pacific Avenue westerly a distance of 0.34 mile more or less to Del Monte Boulevard.

(4) Patterson Lane. That portion of Patterson Lane from Funston Avenue northerly a distance of 0.26 mile more or less to David Avenue.

(5) Pine Avenue. That portion of Pine Avenue from Eardley Avenue westerly a distance of 1.10 miles more or less to Alder Street.

(6) Seventeen Mile Drive. That portion of 17 Mile Drive from State Highway Route 68 (Sunset Drive) northerly a distance of 0.81 mile more or less to Lighthouse Avenue.

(b) Twenty-Five Miles per Hour. Vehicles operated upon the locations listed below shall not exceed 25 miles per hour:

(1) Asilomar Avenue. That portion of Asilomar Avenue from Sinex Avenue northerly a distance of 1.25 miles more or less to Ocean View Boulevard.

(2) Central Avenue. That portion of Central Avenue from the easterly city limits westerly a distance of 0.31 mile more or less to Fourth Street.

(3) Central Avenue. That portion of Central Avenue from 4th Street westerly a distance of 0.49 mile more or less to Forest Avenue.

(4) Congress Avenue. That portion of Congress Avenue from David Avenue northerly a distance of 0.62 mile more or less to State Highway Route 68 (Sunset Drive).

(5) Congress Avenue. That portion of Congress Avenue from State Highway Route 68 (Sunset Drive) northerly a distance of 0.75 mile more or less to Lighthouse Avenue.

(6) David Avenue. That portion of David Avenue from Congress Avenue westerly a distance of 0.25 mile more or less to Buena Vista Avenue.

(7) Eardley Avenue. That portion of Eardley Avenue from Lighthouse Avenue southerly a distance of 0.54 mile more or less to Sinex Avenue.

(8) Forest Avenue. That portion of Forest Avenue from Hillcrest Avenue northerly a distance of 0.81 mile more or less to Ocean View Boulevard.

(9) Lighthouse Avenue. That portion of Lighthouse Avenue from Asilomar Avenue easterly a distance of 0.47 mile more or less to 17 Mile Drive.

(10) Lighthouse Avenue. That portion of Lighthouse Avenue from 17 Mile Drive easterly a distance of 0.40 mile more or less to Lobos Avenue.

(11) Lighthouse Avenue. That portion of Lighthouse Avenue from Thirteenth Street easterly a distance of 0.56 mile more or less to Eardley Avenue.

(12) Ocean View Boulevard. That portion of Ocean View Boulevard from Asilomar Avenue easterly a distance of 1.31 miles more or less to Jewell Avenue.

(13) Ocean View Boulevard. That portion of Ocean View Boulevard from Seventeenth Street easterly a distance of 0.94 mile more or less to Eardley Avenue.

(14) Sinex Avenue. That portion of Sinex Avenue from Second Street westerly a distance of 0.57 mile more or less to Congress Avenue.

(15) Sinex Avenue. That portion of Sinex Avenue from Congress Avenue westerly a distance of 0.44 mile more or less to 17 Mile Drive.

(16) Seventeen Mile Drive. That portion of 17 Mile Drive from Lighthouse Avenue northerly a distance of 0.44 mile more or less to Del Monte Boulevard.

(c) Fifteen Miles per Hour. Vehicles operated upon the locations listed below shall not exceed 15 miles per hour:

(1) Lighthouse Avenue. That portion of Lighthouse Avenue from Lobos Avenue easterly a distance of 0.42 mile more or less to Thirteenth Street. [Ord. 16-003 § 2, 2016; Ord. 07-007 § 2, 2007; Ord. 06-005 § 7, 2006].

16.52.030 Traffic signals – Timing regulated by traffic engineer.

The city traffic engineer is authorized to regulate the timing of traffic signals so as to permit the movement of traffic in an orderly and safe manner at speeds slightly at variance from the speeds otherwise applicable within the district or at intersections, and he or she shall erect appropriate signs giving notice as shown in PGMC 16.56.130.
