RUNOFF ELECTION

1.28.010 Runoff election.

If, at any municipal election the election board shall determine that two or more persons received an equal and the highest number of votes for an office to be voted on, whether upon the canvass of the returns by the election board or by recount by a court, there shall be a special runoff election involving those candidates who receive an equal number of votes and the highest number of votes. (Ord. 403 § 1, 1986).

1.28.020 When held.

The runoff election shall be held in the city on a Tuesday not less than forty nor more than one hundred twenty-five days after the administrative or judicial certification of the election which resulted in a tie vote. (Ord. 403 § 2, 1986).

1.28.030 Consolidated with regular election.

If a regular election is to be held throughout the city within such time period, the special runoff election shall be held on the same day as, and consolidated with, the regular election. (Ord. 403 § 3, 1986).
