8.16.010 Findings and adoption of the California and International Fire Code.
A. Findings. The city council of the city finds as follows:
1. That the International Fire Code, 2006 Edition, adopted by the International Code Council (ICC), is a nationally recognized compilation of proposed rules, regulations, and standards of the ICC.
2. That the International Fire Code has been printed and published as a code in book form within the meaning of Section 50022.2 et seq., of the California Government Code and such code has been adopted and amended by the California Building Standards Commission into the California Code of Regulations (CCR) as Title 24, Part 9, titled the California Fire Code, 2007 Edition.
3. That one copy of the 2007 California Fire Code and 2006 International Fire Code, certified by the city clerk to be a true copy has been filed for use and examination by the public in the office of the city clerk prior to the adoption of the ordinance codified in this chapter.
4. That the county of Riverside has, by Ordinance No. 787.3, adopted, with certain amendments, the California Fire Code edition of the 2007 California Code of Regulations Title 24, Part 9, Appendix Chapters A, B, C, E, F, G, and H, with the exception of Appendix Chapter D.
5. That the sections of said code may be referred to by the same number used in such published compilation preceded by the words “Riverside County Fire Code Section” or “International Fire Code Section” or “Fire Code Section.”
B. Adoption of Fire Code. The city council of the city of San Jacinto hereby adopts the 2007 Edition of the California Fire Code, together with those portions of the 2006 Edition of the International Fire Code as published by the International Code Council, including all applicable findings and appendix chapters, all as adopted by the County of Riverside by Ordinance No. 787.3, except to the extent inconsistent with any other city ordinance.
1. Whenever reference is made in the Riverside County fire code to any particular Riverside County official, body or division, such reference shall be deemed to refer to the city’s applicable corollary official, body or division, as applicable. Specifically, but without limiting the application of the foregoing, whenever the following terms are used in the Riverside County fire code, they shall have the following meanings:
a. “Riverside County board of supervisors” or “board of supervisors” shall mean the city council of the city of San Jacinto.
b. “Riverside County sheriff” shall mean the police chief of the city of San Jacinto.
c. “Riverside County sheriff’s department” shall mean the police department of the city of San Jacinto, as established and maintained by direction of the city council from time to time. (Ord. 08-01 § 9)
