DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AND REDEVELOPMENT

2.13.030 Director of economic and redevelopment.
2.13.010 ESTABLISHED.
There is established as a part of the administrative service of the city, the department of economic development and redevelopment, which department shall perform the following services designated in this chapter.

2.13.020 DEPARTMENT SERVICES.
The department of economic development and redevelopment shall, under the direction of the director of economic development and redevelopment, perform the following services: replanning, design, redesign, clearance, construction, reconstruction, or rehabilitation, or any combination of these, of any property within, or partially within, the city of Santa Cruz, with the goal of providing such residential, commercial, industrial, public, or other structures or spaces as may be appropriate or necessary to further the general welfare of the citizens of the city of Santa Cruz, including recreational and other facilities incidental or appurtenant to them. The department shall further assist in economic development activities including but not limited to business development, business recruitment and retention, business assistance, provision of economic and business information and other associated activities to improve the economic vitality of the community.

2.13.030 DIRECTOR OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AND REDEVELOPMENT.
There is created the office of director of economic development and redevelopment, which officer shall be the head of the department of economic development and redevelopment, and who shall be responsible for all matters relating to the administration of the department and performance of department services.
