7.34.010 Discharge prohibited—Permit.

It is unlawful and is prohibited for any person to discharge any kind of firearm within the city of South Gate; provided, however, that this chapter shall not prohibit the discharge of any firearm in defense of life or property in those cases which are allowed by the laws of the state of California; and provided further, that whenever the city council deems it proper to grant a permit to any person, firm, association, or corporation to discharge firearms within the city, the council may so do, in which permit the council shall designate the particular place in the city where such discharge is allowed, and the period of time which such permit shall last, and also shall therein designate the purposes for which such discharges of firearms are granted.

7.34.020 Penalty for violations.

Any violation of this chapter is a misdemeanor punishable by a fine of one thousand dollars or by imprisonment in the city jail of the city of South Gate or in the county jail of Los Angeles County for a term of six months or by both such fine and imprisonment.
