ILLNESS AND INJURY PREVENTION PROGRAM

Western Municipal Water District’s injury and illness prevention program (IIPP), which shall be implemented and maintained by the general manager (and his designates), shall consist of elements as follows:

A. An administrative policy titled safety practices and procedures wherein Western’s safety programs, procedures, and regulations are to be generally described. This administrative policy shall emphasize that Western maintains an active safety program designed to minimize the safety-related risk to employees and the public.

B. A code of safe practices, as mandated in the California Code of Regulations, Title 8, which shall include procedures, programs, manuals, training requirements, etc.; each element of which shall be signed by the general manager (or his appointed representative).

C. A general manager-designated staff member to serve as person with the authority and responsibility for implementing and maintaining the IIPP as required by the California Code of Regulations, Title 8. Said person shall have the informal title of safety officer and may have other titles or duties in addition to safety.

D. Formation of a staff safety committee, which shall include classified and nonclassified employee representation as mandated by the regulations. (Res. 2122, 2000)
