2.24.010    Office created—Appointment—Compensation.

2.24.020    Powers and duties.

2.24.010 Office created—Appointment—Compensation.

The office of building official is hereby created and established. He shall be appointed by the mayor and the council of the city and shall hold office during the pleasure of the mayor and council. The building official shall receive such compensation as may be fixed by resolution of the mayor and council of the city. (Prior code § 2.35).

2.24.020 Powers and duties.

It shall be the duty of the building official and he shall have power, in cooperation with the proper authorities:

(1)    To see that all laws and ordinances pertaining to his office are enforced;

(2)    To issue building, plumbing, electrical and all other permits relating to building, road and sidewalk or other constructive work;

(3)    To act as fire inspector and sanitary inspector in cooperation with the chief of the fire department and the city health officer, respectively;

(4)    To collect and turn over to the city treasurer all money received by him for the issuance of permits and licenses, and all fees for building, plumbing, electrical and other inspection work done, and all other money received by him as building official;

(5)    To perform such other duties in connection with his office as the mayor and council direct. (Prior code § 2.36).
