2.44.010 Departments established.
There is hereby established the following departments of city government:
(1) Police department;
(2) Fire department;
(3) Public works department;
(4) Finance department;
(5) Recreation department;
(6) Department of city clerk/office manager; and
(7) Community development. (Ord. 1027 § 3, 1985: Ord. 893 § 2, 1979: prior code § 2.8).
2.44.020 Limitation and approval of expenditures.
The head of any department of the city during the intervals between meetings of the council may incur an indebtedness against the city for labor and material not exceeding the sum of two hundred dollars, if the department head in his judgment deems the expenditure absolutely necessary, but every expenditure must be provided for in the current budget and must first be approved by the purchasing agent and controller of the budget and a purchase order issued therefor, and shall be reported in detail to the council at its next regular meeting for approval. 2.44.030 Annual inventory.
The heads of each department of the city shall make and file with the city clerk an annual inventory of the property of the city under his charge, showing cost and quantities of the same. (Prior code § 2.10).
2.44.040 Reports to council—Attendance at meetings.
The head of each department of the city shall make a report, in writing, of the operation of his department to the council at its first meeting in April, July, October and January of each year, which report shall remain on file with the city clerk. Each department head shall attend all regular meetings of the council unless excused by the mayor for a good reason. (Prior code § 2.11).
