2.52.010 Appointment—Compensation.

The head of the fire department shall be known as "chief of the fire department" and shall be appointed, or designated if services provided by contract, by the city manager, and if appointed shall serve at the will and pleasure of the city manager and shall receive such compensation as may be fixed from time to time by resolution of the council. (Ord. 1309 § 5, 2007).

2.52.020 Powers and duties.

The chief of the fire department shall conform to and cause the members of the fire department under him to obey the rules and regulations prescribed by the council, or that may from time to time be adopted and prescribed for the government of the department. He shall be accountable to the council for the efficiency, general conduct and good order of all the subordinates of the department. He shall communicate to the personnel board all complaints made against any member. (Prior code § 9.4).

2.52.030 Right of entry for inspection.

The chief of the fire department or his deputies shall have the right to enter upon any premises at all reasonable hours for the purpose of inspecting the same. (Prior code § 9.5).

2.52.040 Care of fire apparatus.

The chief of the fire department shall have general supervision of all the apparatus of the fire department and of all the repairs to be done and supplies to be furnished therefor, and of all matters connected therewith, and from time to time report the condition of the same to the council with such recommendations as he shall deem for the best interests of the department. (Prior code § 9.6).
