10-68-010 Acquisition of parking meters.

The city council is authorized to award and carry out the terms of any contract entered into for the purchase, leasing and acquiring of the parking meters, whether for trial periods or otherwise. The payment for such parking meters and installation shall be provided for solely from the receipts, funds and revenues obtained from the operation of said parking meters without in any manner obligating the city to pay for the same from any other source. 10-68-020 Application of parking meter revenues.

The coins required to be deposited hereby are levied and assessed as fees to cover the cost of supervision, inspection, installation, operation, maintenance, control and use of the meters and the cost of supervising and regulating the parking of vehicles in the parking-meter zone; for the purpose of acquiring, establishing, improving, maintaining and operating parking facilities; and for the purpose of traffic regulation. 10-68-030 Parking in parking-meter zones regulated.

The operator of a vehicle shall not park such vehicle in a parking-meter zone as established by order of the city council, except as hereinafter provided. The city council shall by order designate the hours of the day and the days of the year when parking in a parking-meter zone may be permitted without compliance with the provisions of this title. Each parking meter shall bear thereon a legend indicating the days and hours when the requirement to deposit coins therein shall apply. (Ord. 1668 § 16.1, 1964)

10-68-040 Time limitation—Charges.

Time limitations for parking in parking-meter zones shall be as established from time to time by the city council. Parking fees in parking-meter zones shall be as established by the city council. (Ord. 1668 § 16.2, 1964)

10-68-050 Time limits.

It is unlawful for the operator of any motor vehicle, having placed such parking meter in operation as aforesaid, to park such vehicle in such parking-meter zone for a period of time longer than is designated on the meter for the value of the coin or coins deposited in such meter. (Ord. 1668 § 16.3, 1964)

10-68-060 Deposit of coins.

When any vehicle shall be parked in any parking-meter zone, the operator of such vehicle shall, upon entering the parking space, immediately deposit or cause to be deposited a coin of the United States in such parking meter, of the denomination indicated, and put such meter in operation. Failure to deposit such coin and put the meter in operation shall constitute a violation of this chapter. (Ord. 1668 § 16.4, 1964)

10-68-070 Tampering with meter.

It is unlawful for any person to deface, injure, tamper with, open or wilfully break, destroy or impair the usefulness of any parking meter. (Ord. 1668 § 16.5, 1964)

10-68-080 Use of slugs prohibited.

A.    It is unlawful for any person to insert, or to attempt to insert, into the coin receptacle of any parking meter any slug, button or other substance, or to manipulate or operate, or to attempt to manipulate or operate in any manner whatever, any parking meter or any mechanism or device connected or commonly used therewith, with the intent to park in a parking-meter zone without paying therefor.

B.    It is unlawful for any person to insert, or to attempt to insert, into the coin receptacle of any parking meter, any slug, button, wire hook or other implement or substance with the intent to obtain from such coin receptacle a legal tender coin of the United States. (Ord. 1668 § 16.6, 1964)
