ORDINANCE NO. 2010-2003

AN ORDINANCE APPROVING AND ADOPTING THE 2010 SUPPLEMENT TO THE CODE OF ORDINANCES FOR THE CITY OF PLYMOUTH, INDIANA

Statement of Intent and Purpose

For a number of years the City has engaged American Legal Publishing Corporation to publish the official Code of Ordinances. The initial publication came in large, three ring binders appropriately labeled “City of Plymouth, Indiana, Code of Ordinances.”

The business of the Council is carried out in the adoption of ordinances addressed to the myriad of issues a City confronts. Accordingly, it is essential to update the Code of Ordinances, preferably annually, with all ordinances adopted after the last update to the Code. Updates come in the form supplements, which also include directions on which pages to discard from the actual Code book, and which new pages to insert. Timely insertion of the supplements is the only way to keep each Code book current. This task is essential if one is to have any confidence that the particular Code book being used is in fact the latest pronouncement of local law. Furthermore, one of the premier services of the publisher is to cross-reference Plymouth's ordinances with the most current state law applicable to the particular subject matter.

The intent and purpose of this ordinance is to approve the latest supplement and direct that the official Code of Ordinances be changed appropriately to include the ordinances adopted since the last supplement. An online copy of the Code of Ordinances can be found on the City's web page through the link to the publisher with this address: www.amlegal.com/library/in/plymouth.shtml

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City of Plymouth, Indiana as follows:

SECTION 1. The supplement to the Code of Ordinances of the City of Plymouth, Indiana submitted by American Legal Publishing Corporation, entitled “2010 S-4 Supplement”, and which is attached, is hereby approved and adopted by reference as if the supplement was set out in its entirety.

SECTION 2. The 2010 S-4 Supplement shall be deemed published as of the day of its adoption and approval by the Common Council, signature of the Mayor, and attestation by the Clerk-Treasurer. The Clerk-Treasurer is hereby authorized and directed to insert this supplement into the permanent copy of the Code of Ordinances kept on file in the Office of the Clerk-Treasurer.
