8.35.010 Owner required to maintain trees, shrubbery.

Any person, firm, partnership or corporation owning any lot, piece or parcel of land within the corporate limits of the City shall be required to maintain all trees and shrubbery upon all streets, alleys, avenues and boulevards adjacent and abutting said lot, piece or parcel of land and within said City, and shall be further responsible for the treatment of diseased trees and shrubbery or the removal of trees and shrubbery that are dead or have reached a condition where they are dangerous to the public using said streets. 8.35.020 Reasonable time of notice.

For the purposes of this chapter, the notice required herein shall be 10 days and said notice may be either served in person upon a form to be provided by the City Clerk on the owner or owners and/or to the registered owner by first class mail, duly certified or registered. 8.35.030 Form of notice.

The City Clerk shall prepare a notice in letter form, which shall contain the information as to the location of trees or shrubbery and the legal description of adjoining and abutting property. The notice shall contain a statement as to the condition of the tree or shrubbery and whether it shall be trimmed, treated or removed; such statement shall inform the owners that upon failure to comply with the requirements set forth in said notice, the City will trim, treat or remove, as the case may be, the tree or shrubbery, by its regular departments or by contract. 8.35.040 Certifying unpaid costs on the tax rolls for collection.

The City Clerk shall, at the time of certifying other City taxes to the County Clerk, certify the unpaid costs, and the County Clerk shall extend the same on the tax rolls of the County against said lot or parcel of ground for collection. (Ord. 847 § 4. Code 1990 § 9-704)
