ARTICLE IV. FIRE LIMITS

62-81 Fire limits no. 1.

The fire limits no. 1 of the city shall comprise and include all the territory of the city bounded and described as follows:

Commencing at a point on the southerly line of Allison Street 150 feet from the intersection of the westerly line of Oakland Avenue and the southerly line of Allison Street; thence southeasterly to the south line of Sanderson Avenue; thence northeasterly to the south line of Oakland Avenue; thence southeasterly along the south line of Oakland Avenue to Wide Track Drive West; thence southwesterly along the northerly edge of Wide Track Drive to the

intersection of Wide Track Drive West and Cass Avenue; thence northwesterly on the north edge of Cass Avenue to the southerly line of the alley between Sanderson Avenue and Allison Street; thence southwesterly on the southerly line of said alley to the westerly line of the D.G.H. & M.R.R. right-of-way; thence southeasterly on the westerly line of said right-of-way to the northerly line of lot 20, Assessor’s Plat No. 40; thence westerly on the northerly line of lots 9, 10, 13, 19 and 20 of Assessor’s Plat No. 40 to the westerly line of lot 9 of said Assessor’s Plat; thence southerly on the westerly line of said lot 9 to the northerly line of State Avenue; thence southerly to a point at the intersection of the southerly line of West Huron Street and the centerline of Williams Street; thence southerly along the centerline of Williams Street to a point 120 feet north of the northerly line of Orchard Lake Avenue; thence easterly parallel to the northerly line of Orchard Lake Avenue to a point where a line drawn parallel to and distant 150 feet westerly from the westerly line of Bagley Street; thence southerly parallel to the westerly line of Bagley Street to the northerly line of the M.A.L.R.R. right-of-way; thence southeasterly on the northerly line of said right-of-way to a point where a line drawn parallel to the distant 145 feet westerly from the westerly line of the D.G.H. & M.R.R. right-of-way would intersect the same; thence southeasterly parallel to the D.G.H. & M.R.R. right-of-way to a point where a line drawn parallel to and distant 100 feet west of the westerly line of Franklin Road would intersect the same; thence southerly parallel to and distant 100 feet west of the westerly line of the Franklin Road to a point 133 feet south of the centerline of South Boulevard; thence east parallel to the centerline of South Boulevard to the easterly line of the D.G.H. & M.R.R. right-of-way; thence northwesterly on the easterly line of the D.G.H. & M.R.R. right-of-way to the northwesterly line of the Wilson Avenue; thence easterly along the northwesterly line of Wilson Avenue to an alley lying east of Paddock Street; thence northerly on the westerly line of alley lying east of Paddock Street to the southerly line of Elm Street; thence continuing on the same straight line to the northerly line of Osmun Street; thence westerly along the northerly line of Osmun Street to the easterly line of Saginaw Street; thence northwesterly along the easterly line of Saginaw Street to the southerly line of Auburn Avenue; thence easterly on the southerly line of Auburn Avenue to a point 75 feet east of the east line of Wide Track Drive East; thence northerly on a line parallel with the east line of Wide Track Drive East to a point 75 feet north of the line of Huron Street; thence westerly parallel with the north line of Huron Street to a point 75 feet east of the east line of Mill Street; thence northerly parallel with the east line of Mill Street to a point 75 feet north of the north line of Mt. Clemens Street; thence west parallel to the north line of Mt. Clemens Street to a point 75 feet easterly of the east line of Perry Street; thence northerly parallel with the east line of Perry Street to a point where the northerly line of Lafayette Street if extended easterly would intersect the same; thence westerly on said line to a point 150 feet east of the easterly line of Saginaw Street; thence northerly parallel to the easterly line of Saginaw Street to a point where a line drawn parallel and distant 120 feet north of the north line of Clark Street if extended would intersect the same; thence westerly on a line 120 feet north of the northerly line of Clark Street to a point 100 feet east of the easterly line of Stockwell Street; thence northerly 100 feet east of the easterly line of Stockwell Street to a point 100 feet north of the north line of Howard Street; thence westerly parallel to the north line of Howard Street to a point 100 feet east of the line of Baldwin Avenue; thence northerly parallel to the east line of Baldwin Avenue to the south line of Poplar Street; thence westerly on the south line of Poplar Street and an extension of the south line of Poplar Street to a point 100 feet west of the westerly line of Baldwin Avenue; thence south parallel to the west line of Baldwin Avenue to a point where a line drawn parallel to and distant 135 feet northwesterly from the northwesterly line of Johnson Avenue if extended would intersect the same; thence southwesterly on said line 135 feet northwest of the northwesterly line of Johnson Avenue to a point 150 feet southwesterly from the westerly line of Oakland Avenue; thence southeasterly parallel with the westerly line of Oakland Avenue to the southerly line of Allison Street at the place of beginning.

62-82 Fire limits no. 2.

In addition to fire limits no. 1, all areas of the city zoned and designated as commercial or manufacturing districts and not lying within fire limits no. 1 shall be known as fire limits no. 2 of the city.

62-83 Outside fire limits.

All areas of the city under Zoning Ordinance No. 944, now in effect outside fire limits nos. 1 and 2, shall be designated as “outside fire limits.” The restrictions and provisions of this article and the city building code shall be the standards applicable to fire limits nos. 1 and 2 and the outside fire limits specified in this article covering all types and kinds of construction in the limits.

62-84 Lumberyards prohibited.

No person shall locate or establish any yard for the sale or storage of lumber, wood, bark, posts, or other like material within fire limits no. 1 established by this article.

62-85 Prohibited businesses; fireworks exception.

(a)    No person shall use or occupy within the city limits any building for the manufacture of turpentine, camphene, fireworks, or other dangerous or easily inflammable or explosive substance, or for the storage of gunpowder in larger quantities than 28 pounds, or for the storage of fireworks of any description whatever.

(b)    With the permission of the council, fireworks may be stored within the city limits during seven days immediately preceding July 4th of each year, and the five days which next succeed July 4th of each year. The fireworks shall be stored in a closed receptacle entirely enclosed with metal.
