1.20.010 General procedure.

The nomination and election of candidates for City offices shall be in accordance with applicable state laws governing popular elections, except to the extent otherwise provided in the City Charter or by ordinance. “City office” includes the office of Mayor, positions on the City Council, and any other elective office or position that may be hereafter created for the City. 1.20.020 Candidate nomination.

A. A candidate for a City office shall, at the time of nomination and election, be an eligible elector and maintain his or her principal place of residency within the City and within the area or district that he or she seeks to represent.

B. To seek nomination for election to a City office, a candidate shall pay a filing fee of $10.00. [Ord. 788, 2022; Ord. 564 § 2, 1986; 1981 Compilation § 1-12.2.]
