TAXIS AND FOR-HIRE VEHICLES

5.10.010 Definitions.
For the purpose of this chapter, the word “person” shall be deemed to mean any person, firm, or corporation, and any automobile or other automotive equipment used for the purpose of hauling, carrying and/or transporting passengers for hire within the corporate limits of Garibaldi, Oregon, and shall for the purpose of this chapter be deemed to be a taxi. 5.10.020 License – Required.
From and after the passage of the ordinance codified in this chapter, any person desiring to operate a taxi within the corporate limits of Garibaldi shall first obtain from the city recorder of Garibaldi a license permitting the operation of such taxi. [Ord. 15 § 2, 1948.]
5.10.030 License – Application.
Any person making application for license to operate a taxi within Garibaldi shall produce satisfactory evidence at the time of making such application for license that said applicant has complied with all the laws of the state of Oregon with reference to the registration of the automotive equipment to be used under such license. [Ord. 15 § 3, 1948.]
5.10.040 License – Grant – Fees.
When application has been made for the provisions of this chapter for a license to operate a taxi within Garibaldi, the city recorder may grant a license to such applicant to operate within the corporate limits of Garibaldi. Annual license fees shall be established by resolution of the council. [Ord. 187 § 2, 1991; Ord. 15 § 4, 1948.]
5.10.050 Violation.
Any licensee engaged in operation of a taxi within the corporate limits of Garibaldi who shall violate any of the laws of the state of Oregon or the ordinances of Garibaldi regulating automobile traffic or who shall be convicted of any crime involving moral turpitude shall be deemed guilty of a violation of this chapter and, in addition thereto, the common council of Garibaldi may, upon not less than five days' written notice to said licensee to appear and show cause why the license to operate such taxi should not be revoked and after opportunity for hearing of any charges set forth in such notice, revoke the license of said licensee and/or direct that no license or renewal thereof be issued to said licensee. 5.10.060 Taxi stands.
Whenever a license has been issued in accordance with the provisions of this chapter for the operation of a taxi within the corporate limits of Garibaldi, application shall be made to the common council of Garibaldi for the designation by said common council of a taxi stand upon the street or streets of said Garibaldi and proper marking thereof upon the curb of the street so designated for the use and benefit of such licensee.
