12.10.010 Building numbers required.

A. Each property owner shall install numbers on their buildings or houses. Numbers shall be permanent material and each digit shall be at least three and one-half inches in width and four inches in height and shall be a contrasting color to the building or house or be of a reflective nature and be so placed that said numbers can be readily seen from the street. The fire chief may approve, in writing, other material or size of digit.

B. If the house or building cannot be seen from the street, the property owner shall set an identification post with a house number sign at the entrance of the property owner's driveway where it intersects with the street. The identification post shall be no less than four inches by four inches and six feet in length. It shall be placed one and one-half feet into the ground. The post shall be placed beyond any of the named roadway shoulders and/or ditches. The house numbers shall be no less than five and one-half inches by 20 inches and shall be black in color. The house numbers, as described above, shall be placed on both sides of the house number sign, and the sign attached to the post so that the numbers can be seen by traffic riding along the street in both directions. The numbers shall be white and of reflective material. In addition to the identification post and house number sign, the property owner shall locate the house or building numbers on the house or building where they can be seen from the driveway, specifications to be the same as stated in subsection A of this section. 12.10.020 Time period for compliance.

All property owners are required to comply with the terms of this chapter within 30 days of passage of the ordinance codified in this chapter. [Ord. 236 § 2, 1998.]

12.10.030 Determination of building number.

Prior to installing a number on the building or house, each property owner shall obtain the correct number to be installed on his/her building or house from the city. [Ord. 236 § 3, 1998.]
