MAYOR

7.01 Mayor.

The Mayor shall preside at meetings of the Council, shall have authority to preserve order, enforce the rules of the Council, determine the order of business, sign approved records of Council proceedings, represent the City in intergovernmental relationships, appoint, with consent of the Council, members of citizen advisory boards, commissions, and committees, and perform other duties specified by the Council. The Mayor shall have the power to veto any ordinance within three days of its passage. The Mayor shall be recognized as head of the City government for all ceremonial purposes and by the governor for purposes of military law but shall have no administrative duties. The Mayor shall be considered a member of the Council for the purpose of computing a quorum, but shall have no vote except in the case of a tie, provided, however, that upon the final passage of an ordinance the Mayor shall have no vote.
