5.20.010 Solicitation hours.
No person shall offer goods or services for sale, or solicit money or anything having monetary value from another person on premises occupied as a residence except between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. or by the prior, express permission of the person occupying or in control of those premises. 5.20.020 Business license required.
Except for not-for-profit organization fundraising, a business, shop, trade, profession, calling, or occupation transacting or carrying on business by soliciting door-to-door within the city limits is required to obtain a business license pursuant to the most recently adopted version of the business license ordinance. (Ord. 3014 § 3, 2006)
5.20.030 Criminal trespass.
A person that enters private property with a clearly visible “No solicitation,” “No peddling,” or similar sign posted is subject to prosecution for criminal trespass, regardless of whether the purpose for entry was to engage in business or otherwise. Signs posted under this section shall not exceed 12 inches by 12 inches in dimension. (Ord. 3014 § 4, 2006)
5.20.040 Criminal trespass exception.
The prohibition of SHMC 5.20.030 does not apply to government officials entering the property in the performance of their lawful duties, including, but not limited to: peace officers, emergency service personnel, or city employees. (Ord. 3014 § 5, 2006)
5.20.050 Penalties.
A violation of any of the provisions of this chapter shall constitute a Class C misdemeanor. (Ord. 3069 § 1, 2007)
