2-5-101 General Duties.
The City Recorder shall be the chief record keeping officer of the City. He shall perform all duties which are required by City ordinance, by direction of the City Council or Mayor, or by state law.

2-5-102 Clerk of City Council.
The City Recorder shall be the clerk of the City Council. He shall keep a record of the proceedings of the City Council. He shall accurately record all ordinances and resolutions passed by the City Council in a book kept for that purpose; he shall certify to the publication of all ordinances and retain the affidavits of publication.

2-5-103 Attest Mayor’s Signature.
The City Recorder shall attest all papers signed by the Mayor officially.

2-5-104 Appointment and Election Records.
The City Recorder shall keep, in a book provided for that purpose, the names of persons elected or appointed to any office, commission, board, or committee within the City, together with the dates upon which they entered upon the duties of their respective office or positions and the dates of their resignation or removal there from.

2-5-105 Countersign Contracts.
The City Recorder shall countersign all contracts made on behalf of the City, and every contract made on behalf of the City or to which the City is a party shall be void unless signed by the Recorder. He shall maintain a record of all contracts, properly indexed, which records shall be open to inspection by all interested persons.

2-5-107 Certification of Property Tax Levy.
The City Recorder shall certify the resolution setting the annual tax levy to the County Auditor not later than the time provided by law each year.
