3-5-101 Creation of Department.

There is hereby established a volunteer ambulance service in the City to be known as the Springville Ambulance Service. The members of the service may adopt a constitution and by-laws, including requirements for membership therein. Such constitution and by-laws shall be effective when approved by the Director of Public Safety, Fire Chief and by the City Council.

3-5-102 Officers.

The Director of Public Safety shall be chief administrative officer of the ambulance service. The Fire Chief shall manage the Ambulance Service Operations. Other officers as may be provided for in the constitution and by-laws of the service shall be elected or appointed and their names submitted to the City Council for confirmation.

3-5-103 Full-time Employees.

In addition to the volunteer members of the ambulance service, the Director of Public Safety, with the consent of the City Council, may employ such full-time personnel as the interests of the City may require. Full-time employees shall be supervised by the Fire Chief and, together with the volunteer members of the Department, shall be responsible for providing emergency medical care for the sick, injured, wounded, or otherwise incapacitated or helpless.

3-5-104 Remuneration.

Compensation for all members of the ambulance service shall be fixed by resolution of the City Council from time to time.

3-5-105 Conformance With State Law.

The ambulance service established by this Chapter shall conform to the minimum standards for ambulance services as set forth in Title 26, Chapter 8A, Utah Code Annotated 1953, as amended.
