2.84.010 Created.
There is created an arts commission to be known as Auburn arts commission. (Ord. 4007 § 1, 1984.)
2.84.020 Purpose.
Within funds appropriation, the arts commission may, alone or in cooperation with any other private, civic or public body of any city, county or the state of Washington, initiate, sponsor or conduct programs calculated to further public awareness of and interest in the visual, cultural, and performing arts. (Ord. 4007 § 2, 1984.)
2.84.030 Membership – Term.
The membership of the arts commission shall be 12 members to be appointed by the mayor with the approval of the city council. Of the first 12 members appointed, four for one year, four shall be appointed for two years and four shall be appointed for three years, with the respective terms of each initial appointee to be determined by lot. Subsequent appointments shall be for a period of three years or for the unexpired balance of the term for which appointed, whichever is the lesser period. Members of the committee shall be subject to removal in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 2.30 ACC as it currently exists or as it may be amended hereafter. In addition to the 12 appointed members, one member of the city council shall be designated by the mayor to serve as an ex officio member of the arts commission. 2.84.040 Officers – Election – Meetings.
The arts commission shall elect its officers, including a chairman, vice-chairman, and such officers as it may deem necessary. Such persons shall occupy their respective offices for a period of one year. The arts commission shall hold regular public meetings at least monthly. (Ord. 4007 § 4, 1984.)
2.84.050 Rules adoption – Minutes required.
The arts commission shall adopt rules for transaction of business and shall keep written minutes of its proceedings which minutes shall be a public record. (Ord. 4007 § 5, 1984.)
2.84.060 Indebtedness – Approval required.
The arts commission shall not incur any indebtedness on behalf of the city without express approval of the mayor and the city council. (Ord. 4007 § 6, 1984.)
