12.28.010 Short title.
The ordinance codified in this chapter shall be known as the “barricading ordinance.” (1957 code § 8.11.010.)
12.28.020 Requirement.
No person or persons, corporations, firms, partnerships, governmental agencies or any organization of any kind shall make any excavation of any kind, or perform any type of work or construction within any street or alley right-of-way in the city, without providing adequate traffic-control and/or barricading devices as required by the safety standards specified. (1957 code § 8.11.020.)
12.28.030 Standards.
All such work sites shall use traffic-control devices and/or barricades as set out in Chapter 12.04 ACC and Part VI of the “Manual on Uniform Traffic-Control Devices for Streets and Highways,” as prepared by the National Joint Committee on Uniform Traffic-Control Devices, latest edition and amendments thereto. 12.28.040 Placement.
The engineering department, or its authorized agents, shall have the authority to require the placing of traffic-control devices and/or barricades, as set out in ACC 12.28.030, in and around any work or construction sites within the city. (1957 code § 8.11.040.)
12.28.050 Violation – Penalty.
Anyone, including any organization, who violates or fails to comply with any of the provisions of this chapter, or who fails to comply with the directives of the engineering department relative to placing traffic-control devices and/or barricades, under authority of this chapter, shall upon conviction be punished as provided in ACC 1.24.010. Each day any person or organization continues to violate or fails to comply with the provisions of this chapter shall be deemed a separate offense. (1957 code § 8.11.050.)
