18.40.010 Minimum rights-of-way and pavement widths.

The minimum rights-of-way and pavement widths shall be those specified in Chapter 13.04 BMC. [Ord. 10833 § 1, 1997; Code 1980 at § 18.36.010].

18.40.020 Cul-de-sacs.

Cul-de-sac requirements are as follows:

A. The maximum length shall be 600 feet.

B. The minimum right-of-way (bulb) radius is 35 feet or as specified in the fire protection development standards. [Ord. 10833 § 1, 1997; Code 1980 at § 18.36.020].

18.40.030 Grades.

Grade requirements are as follows:

A. Maximum roadway grade on arterial streets shall be six percent.

B. Maximum roadway grade on other streets and alleys shall be 14 percent; however, the optimum grade is no more than 10 percent and shall not be exceeded unless in unusual cases.

C. The minimum grade on all streets or alleys shall be no less than 0.5 percent. [Ord. 10833 § 1, 1997; Code 1980 at § 18.36.030].

18.40.040 Curves.

Curve requirements shall be as follows:

A. The minimum centerline radii for horizontal curves shall be 100 feet.

B. The minimum vertical curves shall be 50 feet. [Ord. 10833 § 1, 1997; Code 1980 at § 18.36.040].

18.40.050 Alleys.

Alleys are not required but may be included in the short subdivision at the subdivider’s option. Alleys shall be improved to a standard consistent with the Bellingham development guidelines and improvement standards as approved by the public works department.
