2.26.010 Police chief established.

There is hereby created within the city of Blaine the position of police chief, replacing the term public safety director. The position shall be appointed by the city manager for an indefinite term and may be removed at will by the city manager. (Ord. 2982 § 1 (Exh. A), 2022; Ord. 2179 § 1, 1995)

2.26.020 Salary.

The salary of the police chief shall be established by an employment contract which shall be approved by city council. (Ord. 2982 § 1 (Exh. A), 2022; Ord. 2179 § 1, 1995)

2.26.030 Character and conduct.

The police chief shall maintain a high moral character, be free of moral turpitude, and shall at all times conduct him/herself with dignity becoming an employee of a municipal corporation. (Ord. 2982 § 1 (Exh. A), 2022; Ord. 2179 § 1, 1995)

2.26.040 Scheduling and administrative duties – Responsibilities.

The chief of police shall be the chief administrative officer for the police department. (Ord. 2982 § 1 (Exh. A), 2022; Ord. 2179 § 1, 1995)

2.26.050 Blanket amendment.
