3.93.010 Donations of money or other property.

A. Monetary Donations up to $10,000. Monetary donations of up to $10,000 may be accepted by the city administrator. However, if the donation results in a budget modification, the city administrator shall add the donation to the year-end budget amendment.

B. Donations Over $10,000 or Other Donations. The city council may, by ordinance, accept any money or other property donated, devised, or bequeathed to it. If a bequest of property to the city is made contingent on the city’s compliance with terms contained in the bequest, the city may comply with those terms, provided such compliance is within the powers granted the city by law. Once a donation of property has been accepted in accordance with this chapter, such property may be used by the city for any municipal purpose. (Ord. 1697 § 1, 2023; Ord. 937 § 1, 2002).

3.93.020 Disposition of donated property.

Money donated to the city shall be deposited in the appropriate city fund as determined by the finance director or designee. Such money donations may be credited to the appropriate fund at the discretion of the finance director or designee. Upon receipt, donations to the city of property other than money shall be recorded in the city’s gift catalogue as provided below, and then may be disposed of for any municipal purpose, at the discretion of the finance director or designee. 3.93.030 Gift catalogue – Receipt for items donated.

A gift catalogue for all donations of property other than money is hereby established, and is incorporated herein by reference. The city’s gift catalogue shall contain, for each item donated, the date of the donation, a description of the item, the fair market value of the item as estimated by the finance director or designee, and the name and address of the donor. The finance director or designee shall issue the donor a receipt for any items donated to the city. (Ord. 937 § 1, 2002).
