KILLING AND SLAUGHTERING OF ANIMALS IN PUBLIC

9.44.010 Slaughtering or killing of animals.

Except as otherwise provided herein, no person or entity shall kill or slaughter any animal, fish, or fowl within the city. (Ord. 826 § 1 (part), 2010)

9.44.020 Dressing or butchering.

No person shall dress or butcher an animal, fish, or fowl within the city in a manner that unreasonably exposes any such act to the view of any person situated on public property or public right-of-way. (Ord. 826 § 1 (part), 2010)

9.44.030 Exemptions.

The following individuals and/or entities shall be exempt from the application of this chapter:

A. Any person or entity harvesting legally described fish and game pursuant to Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife rules and regulations, as the same exist now or may hereafter be amended. In such cases, the person or entity may dress and butcher such fish and/or game so long as all entrails and the majority of bodily fluids are removed prior to dressing and butchering in the city limits.

B. Any person or entity authorized by the city to dispatch or destroy certain vicious or injured animals or fowl in a humane manner pursuant to Chapter 16.50 RCW, as the same exists now or may hereafter be amended. (Ord. 826 § 1 (part), 2010)

9.44.040 Violation—Penalty.

The conduct made unlawful under this chapter shall constitute a civil infraction. The monetary penalty for each offense occurring in any one calendar year shall be as follows:

First Offense

$250.00

Second and Subsequent Offenses

$500.00

9.44.050 Chapter controlling.

In the event of any conflict between the provisions of this chapter and any other provision of the Brewster Municipal Code adopted prior to the adoption of the provisions of this chapter, the provisions of this chapter shall be controlling. (Ord. 826 § 1 (part), 2010)
