12.20.010 Former street and public way names revoked and extinguished.

All of the names present at the date of adoption of the ordinance codified in this chapter, of the streets and public ways within the corporate limits of the town as heretofore used and the designations thereof formerly applied to such streets and public ways, and whether the same have been fixed by dedication of plats as the same appear on file in the office of the auditor of Okanogan County, or by common consent or otherwise are revoked, set aside and extinguished. 12.20.020 Adoption of name designations and numbering plan.

A. From and after the adoption, approval and legal publication of the ordinance codified in this section, there is set up, decreed and established, the following designation and name for the several streets and public ways in the town of Brewster and the general plan and specification set out in this section for the determination of street numbers for the various lots and structures thereon within the town of Brewster.

B. The town of Brewster is divided into four quadrants which are defined by the intersection of Main Avenue and Bridge Street Main Avenue running west from said intersection shall henceforth be known as West Main Avenue, and Main Avenue running east from said intersection shall henceforth be known as East Main Avenue. Bridge Street running south from said intersection shall henceforth be known as South Bridge Street, and Bridge Street running north from said intersection shall henceforth be known as North Bridge Street. Henceforth any avenue east of Bridge Street shall be designated as East, and any avenue west of Bridge Street shall be designated as West.

C. All of the public ways running east and west within the town of Brewster shall be called avenues, and all of the public ways running north and south within the town of Brewster shall be designated as streets, with the exception of the housing development known as “The Plaza,” where the cul-de-sac’s shall be known as Place.

D. Beginning at the intersection of said Bridge Street and Main Avenue, the first street north of Main Avenue and east of Bridge Street shall be designated as North Third Street and thus progressively east, and each street shall be designated North Second, and North First Street.

E. Beginning at the intersection of said Bridge Street and Main Avenue, the first street north of Main Avenue and west of Bridge Street shall be designated as North Fourth Street and thus progressively west, each street shall be designated North Fifth, North Sixth and North Seventh Street.

F. Beginning at the intersection of said Bridge Street and Main Avenue, the first street south of Main Avenue and east of Bridge Street shall be designated as South Third Street and thus progressively east, each street shall be designated South Second, and South First Street.

G. Beginning at the intersection of said Bridge Street and Main Avenue, the first street south of Main Avenue and west of Bridge Street shall be designated as South Fourth Street and thus progressively west, each street shall be designated South Fifth, South Sixth and South Seventh Street.

H. Beginning at the Columbia River and working north, all avenues henceforth shall be renamed as follows:

1. Ninth Avenue Southeast shall henceforth be East Ansel Avenue.

2. Ninth Avenue Southwest shall henceforth be West Ansel Avenue.

3. Eighth Avenue Southwest shall henceforth be West Bruce Avenue.

4. Sixth Avenue Southwest shall henceforth be West Cliff Avenue.

5. Sixth Avenue Southeast shall henceforth be East Douglas Avenue

6. Fifth Avenue Southeast shall henceforth be East Ester Avenue.

7. Fourth Avenue Southwest shall henceforth be West Ferry.

8. Fourth Avenue Southeast shall henceforth be East Ferry.

9. Third Avenue Southwest shall henceforth be West Griggs Avenue.

10. Third Avenue Southeast shall henceforth be East Griggs Avenue.

11. Second Avenue Southwest shall henceforth be West Hanson Avenue.

12. Second Avenue Southeast shall henceforth be East Hanson Avenue.

13. First Avenue Southwest shall henceforth be West Indian Avenue.

14. First Avenue Southeast shall henceforth be East Indian Avenue.

15. First Avenue Northwest shall henceforth be West Jay Avenue.

16. First Avenue Northeast shall henceforth be East Jay Avenue.

17. Second Avenue Northwest shall henceforth be West Keller Avenue.

18. Third Avenue Northeast and Fourth Avenue Northeast shall henceforth be Lake View Way.

19. Sixth Avenue Northeast shall henceforth be McKinley Avenue.

20. Sixth Avenue Northwest shall henceforth be Hospital Way.

21. Seventh Avenue Northwest shall henceforth be Methow Avenue.

22. State Road shall henceforth be State way.

23. Hospital Way, Locust Way and Paradise Hill Road shall all remain as named.

24. Plaza Road and Plaza Way Northeast shall henceforth be Plaza Way.

25. Fifth Street Northeast shall henceforth be Columbia Place.

26. Sixth Street Northeast shall henceforth be Enterprise Place.

27. Seventh Street Northeast shall henceforth be Pilot Place.

28. Eighth Street Northeast shall henceforth be Selkirk Place.

29. Ninth Street Northeast shall henceforth be Virginia Place.

30. Hymer Road shall henceforth be Sunset Drive. (Ord. 480, 1987: Ord. 200 § 2, 1956)

12.20.030 Numbering system designated.

Each block within the town shall be designated and assigned one hundred numbers, progressively from such intersection of Bridge Street and Main Avenue within each quadrant, and thus each block cardinally and progressively from such main intersection shall be numbered and designated 200, 300, etc. The street commissioner or other official designated by the town council shall assign numbers to the lots and structures within each block and such numbers shall be assigned so that odd numbers or digits are assigned to lots and structures facing the north and west, and even numbers or digits are assigned to lots and structures facing the south and east. Whenever any house or other building is to be erected hereafter, a number shall be assigned at the time the building permit is granted therefor. (Ord. 200 § 3, 1956)

12.20.040 Street map adopted by reference.

There has been prepared and marked as “street map” a plat identified by the signatures of the mayor and town clerk and which is declared to be a public record of the town exemplifying the matters and things provided in this chapter, reference to which map is made and by this reference such map is made a part of this chapter. 12.20.050 Number affixing requirements.

It shall be the duty of the owner, agent, lessor or occupant of every house or other building, except barns, garages and other buildings which are part of the same property with a numbered house or building, to place on every such building its proper street number, either by painting or by affixing such numbers in metal, glass or other form, so that the same shall be clearly visible from the street. Numbers shall be placed on such houses and structures within sixty days from the effective date of the ordinance codified in this chapter. (Ord. 200 § 5, 1956)
